Thoughts On... All Possible Futures

There is no further state of relaxation, than one Savannah (ie. this one) going out to lunch, doing a little washi tape decorating, putting on a good album and writing a blog post. Despite my original 15 year reluctance, I could seriously get into this winter thing. I even rented DVDs!!

But I've gotta keep the summer spirit alive somehow, and right now I'm doing it with the (semi) new and (ridiculously) awesome album from Miami Horror. If you love San Cisco, you have to hear this! The album is titled All Possible Futures, and features 15 tracks of funky guitar strumming, piano playing and tambourine shaking that will have you lost in thought.

The second track, 'Real Slow' is one of the biggest tracks on the album with its piano chords and dance vibes. I've heard this so many times now that there's part of me that never wants to hear is again. But honestly, theres another part of me wants to walk away from my laptop right now and have an impromptu 80s disco with myself.

The album gets a bit more modern with subtle bass drops and electro beats in 'Cellophane' and 'All It Ever Was', classic indie party tracks. Another mention goes to track 10, 'Out of Sight'. The undertones and vocals of this one bring the vintage vibes right back. I'm literally having a private jam to it right now. Shhh.

The album finishes with 'Another Rise, Another Fall, which is one of my favourites. I'm not musical enough to tell what instrument it is (pls listen and tell me!!) but the first few bars are just perfect. The lyrics come in full of wonder, telling the never ending circle of trying to get ahead. So good!!

While the tracks are a touch similar, Miami Horror has an unquestionably unique sound. Every song has a strong beat, perfect for fun afternoons dreaming of the beach and sly in-car dance parties. Don't pretend you haven't done it...

What are you listening to at the moment? I'd love to hear - Comment below!

P.S. I also wanted to say thank you so so so so so much for over 10,000 page views! That is so incredibly encouraging, and I love you all so much xoxo

Pinterest Loving...

I would like to point out that today is Tuesday the 29th of May, and I am eating a chocolate easter bunny. I'm so one of those people. Not going to lie, today was fairly long and painful. It featured 2 crappy test results and a rather awful netball training. But nothing makes me smile quite like Pinterest (and Easter chocolate in May!!) You can follow me on Pinterest @zolablog. Here's a bit of a look into what I've been pinning lately.
White, Red and Black is my all time favourite combination for Winter. These overalls are like all the best things about white denim, boyfriend jeans and overalls smooshed together into a smooth all-in-one.
Gold eyeliner and cacti. What more could a gal want? I just love how understated the gold is in this, adds a bit of sophistication to the natural look.

Pink loves! Heels with denim jeans is something I really want to try. I'm also really into this washi tape wall art. The possibilities are endless!
Double braids are so sassy!! Just look at how flipping sassy this photo is!

And a last little note to make you think - how lucky are you?

I've now eaten half a chocolate bunny, and am feeling content with myself, so I'm going to retreat to my maths homework. Before I go, I promised a sneaky shoutout to my home girl Nikkii, who sent me my first piece of fan art last week. Thanks bae <3 If more cool people want to send me some fan art... well that would be pretty cool. P.S. A girl I was babysitting on the weekend told me I use the word 'cool' too much. I'm only now realising she might be right...

Afternoon Light

I'm not a person to dread Mondays, but yesterday was a fairly dreadful one. I had a 2 hour science exam. I do not like science. I do not like exams. I cannot concentrate for 2 hours straight.

Thankfully, my weekend was actually seriously better than my Monday (obviously!!). I recruited my legendary friend-gone-photographer Aimee and ventured out of my bedroom to take these photos in the beautiful afternoon light. Real photos and a dress I received in the mail!? I'm livin' the life now guizzz. I'm also slowly teaching my ridiculously short legs to walk in heels. #winning

After wearing this dress, I've decided velvet is a must this winter - its so flipping regal!! Also seriously loving these sleeves for keeping the chilled boho vibes going as the temperature inevitably drops. Dreaming of a stress free life... Wishing exams would finish sooner...

On a brighter note, it looks like I've found a place to express how hilarious I think I am! Twitter! I sat on the couch laughing at my Alex Perry tweet for a solid 5 minutes both before and after I posted it. If you have no idea what I'm talking about or you actually think I'm as funny as I think I am go follow me on Twitter @zolablog. I don't have a whole bunch of Twitter friends yet, so say hi and I'll totally follow you back.

Study calls, so I'm signing off but I hope you all have a great week. Remember - live each day like you're wearing a dress made of velvet because honey - you're a queen xo

Friday Fun

Trying something a little different with this playlist because there's no time like the present. There's no better time for mini-bus raves and pretending every day is Friday. That's the state of mind I'm living in right now, because why focus on the inevitable exams coming ever closer when there's rad beats like this to listen to? I've come up with a new philosophy. Let's forget study and focus on pink sprinkle donuts, jelly shoes and perfect starry nights. Forget Fridays - This playlist will keep your hips a movin' every day of the week. It's packed full with fresh remixes and chilled beats for the moments you feel like having a dance party for one.

Special mention goes to the tracks on this playlist from Oh Wonder. I discovered them when making this playlist over the weekend, and their oooooh wonderful. Imagine all the things you love about Lorde and the funky vibes from Echosmith and you've got yourself a rad lil band. I can't even describe how good they are.

As far as other news goes, I don't have much to tell you right now. I think the entirety of my weekend was spent on Pinterest, which I can say I am obsessed with. I have discovered a whole bunch of incredible things, including the new MacBook. I think I'm in love. I'm going to marry whoever came up with the idea of a gold laptop. Oh Christmas, why you so far away?!1!1!?

I also kicked off my 'Saturday Sport' career with a rather un-thrilling game of netball. Being the unco that I am, I was not looking forward to it, but my team actually came out with a win. Between you and me, it was 100% because I am an incredible WD...While life is a touch bland right now, I am VERY excited about what is to come. All the goodness will be on my Instagram as it happens, which you can follow @zolablog.Until then, try and listen to this playlist more than I will be - I dare you!! Have a great week everyone xo
